The Routes
The best known route, although not the easiest one, is the bike tour to Sa Calobra. Not suitable for cyclists with vertigo, the route covers a part of the Serra de Tramuntana with a distance of 77 kilometers to reach Sa Calobra.
In the first kilometers you’ll encounter an important ascent by road towards the Puig Major. At 1,445 meters it is the highest mountain in the Balearic Islands, although for this route it is not necessary to reach this altitude. The detour is long before reaching the peak, near the reservoirs of Cúber and the Gorg Blau where at last you’ll begin an intense climb in the Coll dels Reis.
Once you’you’ve passed this section, the descent begins along a narrow and winding road with marked curves known as the “tie knot”. Of course, the landscape of rocks and mountains is absolutely spectacular. Upon arrival in Sa Calobra you can return to the port of Sóller in one of the Blue Boats boats or by bus.
Another essential route for cycling from the Hotel Es Port is Sóller-Deià. As on the previous route, the constant ups and downs of this ride are well worth the beautiful scenery you’ll encounter during the journey. The excursion runs along the coast and gives spectacular views of the cliffs and the beautiful coves of turquoise waters.
From Sóller towards Palma there is, for lovers of two wheels, a beautiful excursion that climbs the mountain pass called “Coll de Sóller.” From the top of the port you can enjoy excellent views over the bay of Palma. The end of the stage is very suitable for riders since it has more than twenty kilometers of straightaways.
Getting to know Mallorca by bike is an excellent way to combine two great passions: tourism and sports. At the Hotel Es Port we love both!
